Rivers State Governor, Mr. Nyesom Wike




Nigeria, Sept, 01, 2016 – Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State has expressed gratitude to his Rivers State counterpart, Chief Nyesom Wike, serving and retired judicial officers, including Justice Francis Tabai and other notable personalities for the various supportive roles they played in the burial activities of late Mr Wariebi Abiri, son of the state Chief Judge, Justice Kate Abiri.

Speaking during a commendation service at the Chief Alamieyeseigha Memorial Banquet Hall in Yenagoa on Thursday, the Governor noted that, the mammoth crowd of sympathizers spoke volumes of the integrity and impactful lifestyle of the Abiri family.

He particularly, described the bereaved mother and Chief Judge of Bayelsa, as a woman of deep faith and courage, who has demonstrated uncommon spirit of equanimity and confidence in God, even in the face of a serious calamity, such as the death of a dear son.

Governor Dickson, who lamented the sudden passage of Late Wariebi, enjoined churches and other faith-based organisations to pray against the recurrence of such sad incidents in the Abiri family and the state in general. In his tribute, the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike represented by his wife, Justice Eberechi Wike, expressed sadness over the incident, saying his entire family received news about the death of the young Abiri with rude shock.

Governor Wike used the opportunity to acknowledge the heroic role Justice Kate Abiri played in ushering in his administration, without which he noted, the ongoing development strides would have eluded the people of Rivers State.

In his exhortation drawn from second Samuel 12:16-23 and Romans 8:28, the International Director of Greater Evangelism World Crusade, Pastor Isaac Olori enjoined Christians not to grieve without hope when struck by the calamities of life, as all things work for their good.

Represented by the Superintendent State Minister of Rivers State, Pastor Ibim Alabraba, the clergyman emphasised the inevitability of death and urged all to prepare themselves for heaven by believing and following the footsteps of Jesus Christ.

In their separate tributes, Mr Michael Numa and his wife, Ebikaboere, who is the elder sister to the deceased described him as an embodiment of love, who derived joy in touching lives.

According to a brief biography presented by Mrs Tamunudiepreye Abiri, the late son of the state Chief Judge, aged 21, attended BYCAS model and primary school, Bayelsa State and acquired his secondary education from SAPATI International School, Ilorin, Kwara State.

Late Warebi was a graduate of Coventry University in the United Kingdom, where he obtained a degree in law and was studying to become a barrister as well as Solicitor of the Supreme Court at the Nigerian Law School, Abuja before his untimely demise.
