Lagos, August 9, 2016 – Sole Administrator of Apapa-Iganmu LCDA, Mr. Olumide Olayomi says the council will unveil a three-day free screening exercise on cardiovascular and other health related diseases for residents of the area, in partnership with cardiology specialists from the United States of America, USA between August 15 and 17, 2016.

Speaking on the essence of free health screening for residents, Olayomi said that the present administration in the state believes that early detection of health-related diseases will go a long way in curtailing the pace at which people die of the disease due to ignorance.

“Since heart-related diseases have been observed as one of the major causes of sudden death in recent times worldwide, early detection can help stem the tide of sudden death.”

Olayomi being a Fellow of Rockefeller Foundation, USA Leadership for Environment and Development, said the screening exercise was informed by his desire to improve healthcare delivery to residents of Apapa-Iganmu and its environs within his sphere of influence, while also aligning with Governor Ambode’s policy on improved public health.

“The health screening will be focusing on individuals who do not have immediate access to treatment of heart-related diseases”, the Council boss stated.
