Port Harcourt, August 17, 2016 – The Nigerian Police Force(NPF) has sealed off Sharks Stadium, which is the venue of the convention of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in Port Harcourt.
We gathered that the police stormed the venue very early Wednesday morning to stop the party from going ahead with the convention.
Confirming the report, Force Public Relations Officer, Donald Awunah said on Raypower that it remains the duty the police to maintain law and order, and that the police active proactively to prevent violence.
While acknowledging that the there is a conflicting order from two courts of equal jurisdiction, he said that in the circumstance, the best thing to do is to maintain the statuesque.
The PDP had insisted that it will go ahead with the convention in Rivers State and has already mobilized delegates ahead of the convention.
