Rio, August 17, 2016 – The German team this evening defeated the Nigerian U23 team 2:0 at the ongoing Olympic Game in Rio, leaving Nigeria to battle the Honduras U23 team for the bronze model.
The German machines took the lead in the 10 minute through a goal from Lukas Klostermann. The Germans held on to the lone goal lead until the first half ended.
They came in smoking in the second half. The Nigerian lads struggled without success, missing a couple of chances. But the Germans sealed up the game in the 88 minutes through a goal from Nils Petersen.
The Nigerian made some substitution through Junior Ajayi, which replaced Sadiq Umar but it was to no avail. Nigeria will now meet with Honduras for the bronze medal, while Brazil will confront Germany for the gold medal in the football game.
