Nigeria, July 5, 2016 – Bayelsa State Governor, Henry Seriake Dickson has called on Muslims, across the country to preach love for one another, peace and uphold the tenets of Islam as well as the teachings of Holy Prophet Mohammed.

According to him, it is only by doing such that Nigeria could remain a peaceful nation and achieve its targeted development goals, especially under the prevailing harsh economic hardship.

The governor’s advice was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, while felicitating with Muslims on the end their 30 days of Ramadan fasting and celebrate Eid-el Fitri.

He, however, renewed his “call for religious tolerance among Muslims because for the nation to develop and make meaningful progress, both Muslims and Christians must appreciate each other as well as live together as brothers and sisters.”

Dickson, who described Nigeria as a blessed nation, called on Muslims and Nigerians in general to “pray fervently for the Federal Government under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari, the States and Local Governments to overcome the difficult times and put smiles back on the faces of Nigerians.”

He also urged religious leaders of all faiths and denominations to always prevail on their followers to propagate the message of a peaceful, united and egalitarian society as well as the speedy revival of the nation’s ailing economy and the survival of its hard earned democracy.

Dickson further enjoined Muslim faithfuls, across the country to see Ramadan as a period of stock taking and a time to make peace with Allah and their fellow human beings.
