Militant group operating in the Niger Delta, known as Niger Delta Avengers today insisted that it blew up ExxonMobile Qua Iboe 48 crude oil export terminal.
In a statement, Spokesman of the group, Brig. Gen. Mudoch Agbinibo cautioned ExxonMobile for lying to investors, noting that in a matter of days the whole truth will come into the open.
“ExxonMobile can deny and fool the general public about their Export Pipeline blown yesterday. How long can they lie to their investors? Just in matter of days the whole world will see the truth.
“Qua Iboe 48” crude oil export pipeline is down so said the Avengers”, the group said, adding that the militants attack the terminal at 7:30 PM on Monday.
“At about 7:30pm the Niger Delta Avengers blow up ExxonMobile Qua Iboe 48″ crude oil export pipeline. When will these International Oil companies (IOC) learn to listen. We (Niger Delta Avengers) said no export”, the group said.
The Niger Delta Avengers have claimed responsibilities for series of attacks on export terminals and other pipelines in the region.
They have also itemized a number of demands among which is the development of the Niger Delta and turning of the creeks into tourist haven.
The group has also rebuffed overtures by the Nigerian government to allow them to work with security agencies to protect pipelines in the region, noting that the struggle is not about contracts but has said it is willing to dialogue with the Nigerian government for a lasting solution to the problem but warned against turning the proposed dialogue into a political jamboree.
