Nigeria, July 16, 2016 – Activities have been concluded to host the 4th edition of Konamii 2016 football fiesta in Lagos. Konamii, daubed as the biggest charity Football fiesta in Nigeria comes up July 30 at Campus Square, Lagos Island.
Speaking at a press conference in Lagos, Founder Konamii, Mr. Olamide Olabisi said two additional orphanage homes are being added this year to bring the number of orphanage homes taking part in the festival to six.
The orphanage homes taking part in the fiesta are Lekki Motherless Babies Home, South After Orphanage Home, Peculiar Saint Orphanage Home, Olive Bloom Orphanage Home, Makoko Floating School and Heritage Homes Orphanage. He said the orphanages were selected based on their needs after a visit to one of them to celebrate his birthday.
He explained that there is no defending champion since the fiesta is not about competition but to promote happiness by bridging the gap between the privilege and the less privilege and use the spirit of sports to create tolerance and happiness hence the slogan, get involved.
He explained that the fiesta will be used to raise fund for the orphanages adding that 40 percent of money realized will be donated to the orphanages. He said that audited account of the organisation is sent along with request for sponsorship as a mark of transparency.
He said that the minimum donation is N1,500. He said that the gate will open by 12 pm and but it will be closed by 3 pm on the day of the fiesta.
Also speaking, one of the organizers, Posi Lawore said that in addition to sports, there will be a lot of entertainment and that those who participate in some of the side attractions will win prizes. He said some artistes have indicated their willingness to perform during the festival for charity.
Among those on the list include Adekunle Gold, an artiste from Davido Worldwide Music and others.
