Dhaka, July 11, 2016 – The government of Bangladesh banned Peace TV, an Islamic Television channel from further broadcast of programmes, following terrorist attack on a café in the capital, Dhaka.

The television station is alleged to have inspired the assailants to carry out the attack. Peace TV is founded by Zakir Naik, an Indian Islamic preacher.

“We will take administrative steps to ban Peace TV on Monday,” Information Minister Hasanul Huq Inu told journalists after a counterterrorism meeting in Dhaka on Sunday.

The attack on the Holey Artisan Cafe was the deadliest in Dhaka, with many of the hostages killed.
