AIT sacks workers

Nigeria, June 15, 2016 – The Management of African Independent Television(AIT) has said that it did not sack all staff working for Channel 29, UHF and Raypower in Edo State, contrary to media reports.

In an unsigned statement, the management said only 13 out of 40 staffs were sacked and that both stations have never been shut down.

It added that management took the decision to sack affected staff after due consideration to manpower capacity utilization, dedication to duty, productivity level and found some wanting.

It added that the conduct of affected officers was found to be inimical to organisational goals.

It also questioned the professional competence of the affected staff and that their competence was not at par with their colleagues. It said payment of salaries is receiving attention and that staff will be paid as funds are generated. AIT is allegedly owing workers salaries in excess of 18 months.

AIT is a subsidiary of DAAR communications.
