Vietnam, March 9, 2016 – One of the greatest mystery of childbirth has been unraveled in Vietnam where a woman has given birth to a set of twins with different fathers.
The married woman, UK Mirror reported, had sex with her husband and another man during ovulation and gave birth to the twins.
The couple, we gathered took the twins for DNA test when they discovered that both had striking differences in appearance.
The Vietnamese couple ere shocked when they were told that the twins were not biologically related to the father.
Speaking on the development, President of the Genetic Association of Vietnam, Le Dinh Luong, told AFP that the findings were extremely rare.
“The two-year-old children were taken for DNA tests because of their ‘strikingly different’ looks. Our Centre for Genetic Analysis and Technology lab has tested and found a pair of bi-paternal twins,” he said, adding ‘’This is rare not only for Vietnam, but for the world.”
According to him, bi-paternal twins can occur if two eggs from the same woman are fertilised by the sperm of two men during the same ovulation period.
