Nigeria, March 14, 2016 – The Lagos State University has effectively prohibited wearing of indecent dressing within the university community by instructing security personnel not to allow any student who is deemed to have dressed indecently into the university.
Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Lane Fagbohun made the pronouncement after joining the students in a historic walk against cultism and indecent dressing in the university community.
He described the walk as the beginning of a paradigm shift, stressing that henceforth, students who do not dress properly would not be allowed into the Campus by the Security Personnel.
Fagbohun led the march in company of his wife, Mrs. Yeside Fagbohun, the Deputy Vice Chancellor [Administration], Prof. Fidelis Njokanma, Registrar, Mr. Lewis Akinwunmi Oladapo, the Bursar, Mr. Adetayo Hassan, Dr.(Mrs.) Beauty Idrissu (Ag. University Librarian) and other staff.
The well attended event took off from Badagry gate exactly at 9:45a.m, with participants all cladded in white T-shirts with the bold inscription, “We are LASU, We are Proud”, and the back “Say No to Cultism and Indecent Dressing”.
The walk was peaceful and fun-filled. Participants made use of the walk to entertain themselves as they walked from Badagry Expressway, entered through the Conoil gate, then, through the Staff Quarters, MBA, Main LASU Road, Iba end gate, Iyana-Iba, then, came through the Badagry Gate, the Eco-Library and terminated the walk at the front of Faculty of Social Sciences at 11:20a.m.
