Quarter, March 5, 2016 – The government of Quarter has cancelled a Bollywood concert, attributing the decision to lack of decency and respect for tradition on the part of the organizers.
The show was to take place at the at the Asian Town Amphitheater
Organizers Arun Valley Entertainment said they had already secured the necessary permits from the Ministry of Culture before they started promoting the show and that the show will not be featuring anything that would violate the Qatar’s norms or social values, but added that everyone who had already purchased tickets could receive a refund.
The Qatari authority are citing failure of the organizers to keep Sunny Leone(Karenjit Kaur Vohra), an actress and former porn star known for playing raunchy roles and who featured in “ Erotica” away from the show billed for March 18.
We gathered that the Qatari authority had in a meeting warned that Leon should not be part of the program.
Advancing reasons for the cancellation, Head, Directorate of Culture in the Ministry of Culture and Sport, Mr. Faleh Al Ajlan Al Hajiri said the Mega Bollywood Night scheduled on March 18 would not go ahead following failure of the organisers to comply with regulations for the licence.
He said his country will not tolerate any attempt to disrespect Islamic values, traditions and customs, adding that any cultural or artistic event that is organized in Qatar is given the licence only if it complies with the public morals of the Qatari society.
Already, about 7,000 tickets have already been sold for the Mega Bollywood Night with comedian Sunil Pal, dancer Nirmal Tamang and pop star Himal.
