February 01, 2016 – Not less than 27 Chinese officials have been sanctioned by government for wrongful execution of Huugjilt, a Chinese teenager.

Huugjilt(18) was convicted of rape and murder of a woman in a public toilet in one factory in 1996.

According to Xinhua, Huugjilt was exonerated of the crime in 2014 when a serial rapist confessed he carried out the act in 2005.

The 26 officials were given “administrative penalties, including admonitions and record of demerit”, Xinhua, the state news agency said.

Huugjilt’s parents were also compensated with 30,000 yuan ($4850; £3080) as an expression of the court’s sympathy, when the conviction was overturned.

Feng Zhiming was penalised when he admitted being under pressure to secure a conviction in a murder case.
