January 11, 2016 – Vice Chancellor, Lagos State University(LASU), Professor Olanrewaju Adigun Fagbohun has vowed to immediately set up a task force to look at issues relating to outstanding results and

issuance of certificates, particularly as it relates to external campuses of the university.
Fagbohun made the remarks in his inaugural address at the Lagos State Government House, Alausa, where he was sworn in by the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode.

He promised not to tolerate exploitation of students through sale of hangouts and books.
“No longer will we tolerate the exploitation of our students through the sale of hangouts and compulsory sale of books. Our commercial ventures and consultancy units will be structured such that they can provide opportunities for employment and practical experience to our students,” he said.

He also promised to encourage whistle blowing and protect whistle blowers to keep everybody on its toes and to encourage information flow such that all students will have access to the phone numbers and email address of the Vice Chancellor adding that suggestion boxes will be located in strategic areas on campus.
“If you send me a letter and I do not respond to you within 48 hours, please send me a text in respect thereof”, he said.

The VC who seemed to be poised for achievement said, “we will make those who are genuinely concerned happy, frustrate the sceptics and gladden the hearts of our funders and founding fathers”.
He promised to respect unions and allow them to play their roles in complementing management.
“Staff will rise solely by merit and in accordance with laid down rules and regulations to higher grades without frustration”, he promised.

While calling for support of the Lagos State Government, he vowed to be prudent and harness opportunities in agriculture through the School of Agriculture at Epe.

He also vowed to hit the ground running by setting up 26 strategic committees besides other statutory committees and called on staff to give him free access to their offices without imputing bad motives into his movements.

“Let us do away with bickering, victimization, blame game, unhealthy rivalry, empty politicking, vindictiveness, rumour mongering, hate conflict of the past and others that distort our focus and stunted our growth.

“Do not seek to hijack me or hold me to scrutiny solely for the purpose of deliberately misrepresenting or distorting my message. I have no illusion of self-importance. Therefore, do not tempt me with rewards of praises all in the bid to lure me into acts of hubris. I passionately plead that you leave me to work with all for the good of all”, he begged.
