January 11, 2016 – Rock music star and film actor, David Bowie is dead. He was 69. He died today in the presence of his family after 18-months bouts with cancer.
He will be remembered for Pontius Pilate, the role he played in The Last Temptation of Christ.
“David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief”, his family said on social media.
Bowie became famous with the track, Fame, followed by Station to Station. Other track he recorded are “Let’s Dance, Man of Words, Man of Music, Heroes, Changes, Under Pressure, China Girl, Modern Love, Rebel, Panic in Detroit, Fashion, Life on Mars, Suffragette City”.
Born David Jones in London on Jan. 8, 1947, Bowie featured in several films among which is The Last Temptation of Christ in 1988 where he played Pontius Pilate.
Others are, The Man Who Fell to Earth, Labyrinth, Martin Scorsese and The Prestige.
