CP INALEGWU CHARGES NFF ON STRONG STRUCTURES

January 7, 2016 – Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Wilson Inalegwu, on Tuesday extolled the efforts of the Nigeria Football Federation which fetched the country various successes on and off the field in the year 2015, while also charging the Federation to create strong structures that will endure over the coming years and decades.

The football –loving Commissioner of Police spoke during a courtesy call by the top officials of the NFF Secretariat, led by the General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi.

“I must first congratulate you on the successes of the various National Teams in year 2015, including an U-17 world title, an U-23 African title that gave us Olympics football ticket, an U-20 African title and qualifications for major tournaments. Several Nigerian players are also excelling in the top Leagues of Europe. I believe our teams would do even better in this year 2016.

“Your organizational ability and administrative acumen have shown clearly in these successes. The FCT Police Command is prepared to partner with you for even better security at football stadia and on integrity issues. For us, there is no sector that guarantees tourism better than football.”

Inalegwu stated that the style of play and indomitable spirit of the National Teams, particularly the Super Eagles, have endeared Nigeria football to millions of fans across the globe.

“You administer a very critical sector of Nigeria life. My advice is that you create strong structures that will endure, because it is better always to create strong institutions rather than strong individuals.We will do everything to support your programs and activities.”

Earlier, Dr. Sanusi had congratulated CP Inalegwu on his rise to the position, while commending the work he had always done to ensure security of lives and property at the various stadia and in the FCT in general, before his elevation.

“Your hardwork, energy and honesty have endeared you to the NFF and the Nigeria football fraternity. We believe that we will work very well with you and that our desire for greater security at football stadia and on integrity issues will always receive speedy attention.

“The NFF has already keyed into the change agenda of the present administration, with various successes in the year 2015, and we also brought in world –renowned companies as auditors, financial consultants and management consultants. We are also taking integrity issues very serious.”

Also present during the brief call were ACP Daniel Gwambal (OC, Training and Development), NFF’s Deputy Director (Competitions) Bola Oyeyode, Assistant Director (Communications) Ademola Olajire, Chief Legal Officer, Barr. Okey Obi, Integrity Officer/SA to GS, Dr. Christian Emeruwa, personal assistant to GS, Aliyu Ibrahim and chief security officer, Daniel Musa.
