December 14, 2015 – President of South Africa, Jacob Zuma has appointed Pravin Gordhan as Finance Minister.
Gordhan is the third Finance Minister to be appointed by the President who has fired two Finance Ministers in one week.
He is coming on board following sack of David Van Rooyen who resumed as Finance Minister last Thursday, following the sack of Finance Minister Nhlanhla Nene.
Nene’s sack was welcomed with a lot of criticism leading to crash of the South African Rand in the stock market. The crash of the stock market
Gordhan served as Finance Minister from 2009 to 2014.
