November 7, 2015 – Governorship election tribunal sitting in Abuja this afternoon declared Governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress(APC), Mrs. Aisha Jummai Al-hassan as the duly elected Governor of Taraba State.
Justice Musa Danladi Abubakar declared Al-Hassan winner of the April 11, general election after annulling the election of current governor, Mr. Darius Ishaku who was candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) on the ground that he did not emerge from primaries and thus not properly picked to contest the April 11 election.
Danladi declared Al-Hassan winner, having scored the second highest votes and declared that Alhassan be sworn-in as winner of the election.
Alhassan had approached the tribunal challenging the victory of Governor Ishaku in the Taraba State governorship election. Chairman of the tribunal, Justice Musa Danladi Abubakar, had on October 7 reserved judgment indefinitely after hearing the final submissions of the counsels.
Tribunal said it relied on the reports of the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC), which said that the PDP didn’t conduct any primary election for the Taraba State Governorship Election.
