NSC PLANS NATIONAL SPORTS SUMMIT

November 25, 2015 – National Sports Commission (NSC) in conjunction with Spring Vision Koncept are planning to organize a National Sports Summit in the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, from 7th to 11th December.

The summit is geared towards enhancing global developmental trend in Nigeria, and it’s being organized under a Public-Private Partnership synergy, with the sole objective of using it as a window to reposition sports in the country.

Coordinator of the summit, Mr Martins Bisong said the theme “The Nigerian Sports Economy and Promotions: The Public-Private Partnership Perspective”, is expected to draw captains of industries, top government functionaries and other major stakeholders to the round table to channel the way forward for Nigerian sports.

“Nigeria’s sports have challenges in the areas of sponsorship, marketing, facility enhancement and sustainability, human, capital and capacity resources mobilization.

“The imperative for this summit and exhibition is to attract stakeholders from the public and private sectors to come together and build a consolidated synergy to exchange ideas, invest and support Nigeria sports transformation and development,” Bisong explained.

Top on the list of invitees is president Muhammadu Buhari, who is expected to declare the summit open with the chairman of Globacom, Chief Mike Adenuga Jnr. as chairman of the occasion.

The president of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, Engineer Habu Gumel will deliver a paper on “Sports Promotions and Investment in Nigeria: The Public Sector Perspective” while the chairman of Zenith Bank Plc Chief Jim Ovia will talk on the same issue but from the private sector perspective as guest speakers.

Others expected to deliver papers at the summit includes the Chief Executive Officer of Brila FM, Dr Larry Izamoje who will talk on “Sports Advancement and Marketing in Nigeria: The future of Nigeria Sports” .The chairman of Capital Oil and Gas and proprietor of FC Ifeanyi Ubah, Chief Ifeanyi Ubah who will also present a paper on “Sports Development and Funding: The Nigerian Challenge.”

More so, the summit will also have Mr Michael Ikpoki, the Managing Director of MTN Communications speaking on Nigeria: Consistent Sports, Field Programmes and Promotions as a Medium for Talents Development and Investment.”
