GUSS HIDDINK HEADS TO NORTH KOREA FOR VISUALLY IMPAIRED

November 3, 2015 – Former Dutch and South Korea Coach, Guss Hiddink is planning to build futsal ground, a sport facility for the visually impaired in North Korea.

The futsal ground according to experts is a soccer pitch about the size of a basketball court. Hiddink will leave Seoul for to the North with a South Korean staff from the Guss Hiddink foundation.

According to NK news, he will stay in Pyongyang until Saturday, when he will meet with North Korean officials to discuss the project.

“(I want to build futsal grounds) not just in Pyongyang, and hopefully in other cities in the North … we can make a plan to work with kids as well,” he said at Incheon airport on Monday.

The Guss Hiddink Foundation which was established in 2007 has built thirteen futsal grounds for visually impaired and young people in South Korea.

Guss Hiddink, managed the South Korean soccer team for the 2002 World Cup in South Korea and Japan, was awarded honorary South Korean and Seoul city citizenship. He became very popular after leading the team to the competition’s semifinals.
