BUHARI SENDS N465.6 BN SUPPLEMENTARY BUDGET TO SENATE

November 18, 2015 – President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria today sent a supplementary budget to the Senate for the 2015 fiscal year.

The total sum sent by the President to the upper house was N465.6 billion. The letter requesting the Senate to give approval to Buhari’s request was read to members by President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki.

While reading the letter, Saraki said additional fund was requested to enable the President tackle security challenges facing the nation, especially in the North East, where the radical sect, Boko Haram has killed and maimed thousands of Nigerians.

He said the global fall in oil prices has impacted negatively on the 2015 budget presented by the past administration, adding that budget prepared based on a benchmark of $52 per barrel and N180 to the US Dollars.
