November 09, 2015 – President Mohammadu Buhari has relieved Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC), Mr. Ibrahim Larmode of his appointment as Chairman of the anti-graft agency.

The President also appointed, Ibrahim Magu an Assistant Commissioner of Police to head the agency in the interim.

Lamorde took over from Farida Waziri but remained docile until President Muhammadu Buhari was elected president.

But his attempt to key into the anti-corruption drive of the President led to revelation which has damaged his credibility to head the commission.

Buhari announced the changes in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Femi Adesina.

“President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Mr. Ibrahim Mustafa Magu as the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

“Mr. Magu, who is an Assistant Commissioner of Police is to take over from Mr. Ibrahim Lamorde who is proceeding on terminal leave ahead of the formal expiration of his tenure in February next year”, the statement said.
