October 12, 2015 – Five of the eight assailants who kidnapped former Secretary to Government of the Federation, Chief Olu Falae have been arrested.

We gathered that five of the eight suspects were arrested in Niger and Ekiti State.
According to a police source, part of the ransom paid by family has also been recovered but the police did not speak further on the ransom.

Falae was kidnapped by Fulani herdsmen on his birthday in September 21, 2015 and demanded a ransom of N100 million which they later down-graded to N90 million. The 77 year old man was released by the abductors Thursday afternoon. He was born September 21, 1938.

Police swung into action following an order by President Muhammed Buhari that the IGP should rescue the former minister.

The Pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere also called for immediate release of the former Minister of Finance.

In a statement, Spokesman for the group, Mr. Yinka Odumakin urged northern leaders to ask the Fulani herdsmen to release him since he has been engaged in a running battle with Fulani herdsmen in his farm.
