September 15, 2015 – The Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN) has dissociated itself from a Facebook account purported to be owned by its Deputy Governor in charge of Economic Policy, Dr. Sarah Alade.
In a statement, Director Corporate Communication, Mr. Ibrahim Mu’azu said that Alade does not operate any Facebook account, adding that the account bearing the name of the Deputy Governor is fake and intended to mislead members of the public.
“The attention of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has been drawn to the existence of a Facebook account purportedly owned by the Deputy Governor in charge of the Economic Policy Directorate at the Bank, Dr. (Mrs.) Sarah Alade.
“We wish to inform all members of the public, particularly members of the social media community that Dr. (Mrs.) Alade currently has no Facebook account. We wish to state categorically therefore that the Facebook account bearing the name of Dr. (Mrs.) Sarah Alade is fake and aimed at misleading members of the public”, he said.
Accordingly, the Bank wishes to advise all members of the public to desist from transacting business with the owner of the impostor account as doing so would be at their own risk.
