September 8, 2015 – A 16 year old boy and a 10 year old girl have been confirmed dead in different locations in Lagos State.  The 16 year old boy died on Monday when fire razed a duplex at Lekki area of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

The 10 year old girl died same day in a domestic well while playing around  at nos. 11 Atanda Street Mafolokwu, also in Lagos.

We gathered that the Lekki  fire started around 2.00am on Monday in a duplex at 35C, Ajiran Road, Agungi area of Lekki. The name of the boy was identified as Timehin Jinadu. The Jinadu family was sleeping when the fire began.

Fire Servicemen from the Lekki Fire Station were mobilised to quell the fire as they came with 10,000 litres of water to battle the raging fire.

Confirming the incidents, Director, Lagos State Fire Service, Rasak Fadipe said that the fire service station was called around 2.00am and that it responded promptly to the call and succeeded in rescuing three people from the duplex of four bedroom.

According to him, the body of 16-year old Timehin was discovered in the bathroom roasted by fire, saying that it might be that the boy ran to the bathroom to escape from the fire but had nowhere to go to after that as he was burnt to death. He said the father of the boy and two other children inhaled smoke which made them unconscious and had to be rushed to the hospital.
