September 25, 2015 – Not less than 717 people on holy pilgrimage in Mecca, Saudi Arabia died on Thursday, Eid-el-Kabir day and 863 others injured following a stampede in the holy city of Mecca.
The 863 people were injured at Mina, when millions of pilgrims were taking part in a major rite to round up the pilgrimage.
The incident coming just a week after 118 people were killed and 394 people injured when a construction crane crashed into Masjid al-Haram, the Grand Mosque in Mecca is said to be the deadliest incident in 25 years.
Meanwhile Saudi authority have called for review of security arrangement following the incident.
But the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who lost at least 95 of its citizens in the incident, said the Saudi government must accept the huge responsibility for this catastrophe
He attributed the incident to mismanagement and improper actions.
