August 8, 2015 – Idimu, a suburb of Lagos was thrown into confusion Friday evening when an elderly woman(53) jumped into a domestic well of about 130 feet deep.
It is not clear what the motive of the woman was but the incident which took place at 5 Ajilekege Street, Pipeline Bus Stop, Idimu threw the whole area into confusion.
Neighbours who rushed to the scene struggled spiritedly to save the woman. They were later joined by men of the Lagos State Fire Service. She was however recovered dead from the well.
In a related development, a man (60) was recovered dead from another deep well of about 120 feet at Imota, near Ikorodu, Lagos.
According to Director of Fire, Lagos State Fire Service, Engr. Rasaq Fadipe, the incident occurred at Abayo road, Imota, near Ikorodu.
“A male adult of about 60 years has just been recovered dead from a deep well of about 120 feet deep at 16 Abayo road, Imota town , near Ikorodu.
“Tragedy, an elderly woman deliberately jumped into a domestic well of about 130 feett deep at 5 Ajilekege sreet, Pipeline, bus stop, Idimu, search and rescue operation onging to recover her.
“The woman of about 53 years old was recovered dead at 11.05pm by firemen from Ikotun supported by Alausa Fire Station”, Fadipe said via text messages last night.
