PDP State rally in Kano State

August 29, 2015 – Members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Taraba state have called on the National leadership of the party to sanction its state governor Arch. Darius Dickson Ishaku for his ungrateful comments against the party.

The members under the Coalition for a Reformed Taraba PDP in a statement signed by its Coordinator Ahmed Bala wonders why governor Ishaku will bring the party to cleaner after benefiting from the same fraudulent process of becoming the PDP governorship candidate for the 2015 general election.

“It is a well known fact that there was never a PDP primary election in Taraba state, Governor Ishaku was imposed from Abuja by the same people he’s complaining of destroying the party,” the group said.

The PDP members however asked the governor to retract his statement that PDP leaders became arrogant after 16 years in power.

Bala said if the governor fails to retract its statement, sanction will help the governor from becoming a power drunk and respect party supremacy.

The party members lamented that Governor Ishaku is becoming “too arrogant as a PDP member and a state governor, adding that his polices are undermining the legacies of past PDP administration in Taraba state and that the party is becoming unpopular in the state.”

According to the PDP group, governor Ishaku statement has proven that he’s not a faithful and loyal party man, ” but an ingrate whose personal ambition and ethnic jingoism cost the party some electoral defeat.

“Before now, PDP has always been in control of our state until Ishaku was imposed as our governorship candidate without a primary election, this affected the electoral fortunes of the party, yet the governor is non-chalant on rebuilding the party, all he wishes are more defeat for the party,” Bala said.

The group stressed that elections won by the PDP has never been keenly challenged by its opposition at the Tribunal as Ishaku is facing now.

“Today PDP members are praying and fasting that its party does not loss the state to the APC at the election tribunal because its glaring that our candidate was very unpopular during the last election.”

The group added that Ishaku candidature was a product of errors that cost the party defeat at the 2015 general election.

“Its disheartening that Governor Ishaku could use a moment like the death of our leader, Bala Ndakoro to pour his venom on the party that assisted him to power.
