August 19, 2015 – Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has said that he will complete the Ayobo-Ipaja road in the next three months.

The former governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babatunde Fashola awarded contract for construction of Ayobo-Ipaja road to Plycon but there was no progress on the road till the end of that administration.

But during a tour of local governments on Wednesday, the governor said that in three months time, the Ipaja Ayobo road in Alimosho will be completed.

“In the next three months, we will complete work on the project. We will work to speed up the commencement of construction work on the fire station and mini-water works and completion of the mini-stadium”, he said.

The governor who also inspected the road linking Camp David, thanked residence for their tolerance over the years.

“I want to assure you that this road will be done immediately. The contractor handling the Ipaja-Ayobo road has commenced work on the road. We will send our engineer to look at the road. We will work on the abandoned jetty at the end of the road to provide another means of transportation to the residents of Ipaja-Ayobo. I want to appeal to residents to bear with us while the work last. The residents of Alimosho deserve more than the road”, he said.

At Igi Olurbin Road, Ladilak in Bariga Local Council Development Area, the governor said he is not happy with the slow pace of work by the contractor.

“Though the contractor has completed the first phase but the second phase is too critical to the residents of the council. We will not accept anything that will make life unbearable for the residents of Lagos. They have explained that they had challenges relocating some of the services on the road. But they must create palliatives while work continues. This government will do everything possible to make life comfortable for the residents of the state”, he said.

Earlier, Executive Secretary of Bariga LCDA, Mr. Kolade Alabi told the governor that slow pace of work on the road has affected the inner roads in the community.

“The motorist cannot make use of the major road which is Igi-Olugbin road. We have written several letters to the contractor but it is appalling that the contractor has failed to yield”, he said.

Speaking during the tour, Representative of HFP Engineer, Engineer Showole Olatunji said the major challenge was relocation of the services-electrical and water pipelines, to off the alignment.

“We already have pre-cast on site. And once the relocation is completed, by December, we will make the road motorable. The entire Igi-Olugbin road will be completed in January, 2016”, he said.
