9 feared killed as helicopter crashes into Lagos Lagoon

August 12, 2015 – At least nine  people are feared  killed following the crash of an unidentified helicopter  into the Lagos Lagoon just behind Oworonsoki Police Station.

We gathered that the plane  which belong to Briscoe helicopters had 12 people on board and took off from Ikeja en route Victoria Island at about 3 PM.

Already the National Emergency Management Agency(NEMA) said that four  corpses have so far been recovered  from the scene of the crash while three have been rushed to hospital in the area.

Eye witnesses say they heard a loud bang before the shopper nosedived into the nearby lagoon.

Details of the crash is still sketchy but Director Lagos State Fire Service, Engr. Rasaq Fadipe told journalists that his men are already on ground.

He added that officials of Marine Police are also at the scene for rescue operation. Officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency told our correspondent that Commissioner of Police in Lagos, Mr. Fatai Owoseni is on ground and that the Deputy Governor, Dr. Oluranti Adebule is also on ground to preside over ongoing rescue operation.
