July 17, 2015 – A 25-year old man, Olagunju Waheed is now cooling his head at Ikoyi prison for allegedly entering a church premise with a copy of the Holy Quran.
It is not clear what the motives of Waheed were, but the man who is a resident of No. 8, Aje St., Sabo, Yaba is facing trial at a Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos on one count charge of breach of public peace.

Addressing the court, the prosecutor, Insp. Nwosu George alleged that the accused committed the offence on July 12 at about 8.00 a.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church, Yaba.
“The accused, armed with a copy of the Holy Quran, was found loitering at the church premises when a security guard approached him and asked what his mission was. The accused could not give a satisfactory explanation and he was immediately apprehended”.
According to the prosecutor, the offence contravened Section 166 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. The accused person denied the allegations.
Chief Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Erinle, granted him bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum. The case has been adjourned to August 26 for trial.
