May 18, 2015 – The Russia Federal Space Agency (RFSA) today said it has managed to restart engines of the Progress Spacecraft and correct orbit of the International Space Station (ISS).
Attempt by Russia to launch Proton-M carrier rocket into orbit had failed, leading to loss of a Mexican telecommunications satellite even as a team of engineers from the RFSA attempted to start one of the engines last Saturday.
Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has launched an inquiry after the satellite incident, demanding answers from head of the space agency.
In April 28, 2015, Russia failed in its bid to launch an unmanned Progress spacecraft meant to deliver supplies to the International Space Station. The spacecraft lost contact shortly after take-off.
The three crew members in the ISS are a Russian, an American, and an Italian. They are due to return to Earth in early June.
