Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola and Professor George Obiozor at the Mike Okonkwo Lecture

April 7, 2015 – The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has demanded immediate suspension of Rilwan Akiolu as Oba of Lagos till after the April 11 elections in order to guarantee free, fair and credible elections .

This is just as the party has also alerted the security agencies to hold the Oba responsible for any attack on non-indigenes or PDP members.

In a statement Publicity Secretary of PDP, Lagos, Mr. Taofik Gani said the silence of the governor of the state, Fashola, over 48 hours after such inflammatory statement and threat to life suggests that the Oba must have been deployed by the state government to so act.

“The governor is thus a conspirator in this threat to life and must also be held accountable for any violence in this elections. We have at this point been vindicated about the desperation of the APC to retain lagos state at all cost including APC plan not to concede the imminent defeat on April 11”, Gani said.

According to him, the position of the PDP is coming on the heels of the now viral threat issued by the Oba of lagos to ibos that they must vote APC governorship candidate Ambode or be drowned in lagos water.

He said the PDP has charged the non-indigenes and her fans not to be intimidated by the Obas threat, but go out to vote according to their wish.
