April 25, 2015 – Residents of Lagos State are excited about the proposed cable car and a world class shopping mall all coming up in the Lagos Island Central Business District(CBD).
Special Adviser to the Lagos State Government on CBD, Mr. Folarin Coker made who made the revelation at a press briefing in Lagos said both projects have generated interest in many who are residents in the CBD.
He said both projects will be carried out through a Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement and that discussions are ongoing to fast-track realization of the projects.
According to him, the world class mall will have offices and residential blocks. “The central and historic parts of Lagos will also be preserved to showcase its rich culture and heritage”, he said.
He said that the cable car and the light rail project are part of efforts to fast-track development of the Lagos Island CBD and improve transportation in the area.
“The private sector participation is therefore being encouraged in line with the general policy of the state government and the strategic master plan”, he said adding that there are identifiable and financially viable projects that will hopefully catalyze redevelopment within the CBD.
