MPPP Adopts President Jonathan for March 28 Election

March 4, 2015 – Kwara State Chapter of Mega Progressive Peoples Party (MPPP) today adopted President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan as its Presidential candidate in the forthcoming general election scheduled for March 28 and April 11.

The decision to adopt Jonathan was disclosed at the flag off of the party’s programme by  Governorship candidate of the party, Mr. Babatunde Omolosho.

In a communiqué read by Omolosho, the party declared that  President Jonathan stands tall above any other Presidential candidate  for the 2015 general elections.

“His contributions as President of Nigeria in the past six years adequately qualifies him for re – election for another four years. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has played a prominent role in the process of stabilizing democracy in Nigeria within the period of inception of the Fourth Republic.

“The Party and President Jonathan in particular have provided meaningful leadership that has ushered in growth and development that have in turn promoted Nigeria in the comity of nations around the globe”, the party said, adding that the above attribute paraded by President Jonathan, Nigeria has therefore been able to gradually and steadily march towards stability in polity and in processes of deepening democracy in the Country.

He called on all members of the party to work assiduously for the re – election of Jonathan comes March 28, 2015.

According to him, the clarion call to national duty became necessary in view of stabilizing role MPPP has to play in the current political dispensation as medium Party in the midst of other large, micro political parties in Nigeria.

Omolosho also seized the occasion to unveil his party’s agenda for the development of Kwara State, adding that the party will run an open door administration if voted in to power.

He stated that Kwara has been retarded for years under the All Progressives Congress (APC) led-government due to lack of unfettered access to the Government House and ruling political leaders in the State.

Omolosho said democratic dividends have not been trickling down to the grassroots where the bulk of electorate reside because political leaders were far removed from the people.

He said somebody who was neither born nor resided in the villages could not know where the shoes pinch the rural dwellers, therefore, the MPPP avowal to give unrestricted access to people to tell Government about their pangs and pains.

According to him,  part of MPPP’s good governance includes  provision of functional Primary Healthcare Centre and free medical care for the aged from 65 years and above.

“We are going to provide good governance in Kwara through open door administration where everyone especially the grassroots people would have unrestrained access to the Government House.

“MPPP transformation scheme for Kwara would be anchored on massive improvement of social infrastructures that would impact meaningfully on the grassroots”, Omolosho said.

He added that the party has would constitute a Committee that would provide feed backs as monitoring and evaluation mechanism of ensuring strict adherence to good governance.

Also speaking, the National Secretary of MPPP, Douglas Ojobo, who presented the party’s flags to its candidates at the occasion said MPPP is ready for election without violence in Nigeria.
