February 9, 2015 – There was a near-fatal accident at a rally organised today by the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Alimosho.

The accident involved a jeep that plunged into an open drainage channel as it was driven by one of the aspiring lawmakers out of campaign ground through a broken fence padded with planks even as supporters rush after her for handouts.

The lawmaker, names withheld got out unhurt while the driver and her aides engaged themselves in war of words and scuffle forcing policemen to fire gun shots into the air to calm the situation.

The rally held in Abesan High School while students were still in class and they merely struggled to learn in the midst of noise which pervaded the vicinity until the principal of the school was forced to shut the classes and led hundreds of students out of the premises giving them direction where to take to avoid any incidents.

Many who spoke on the rally holding in the school premises described it as insensitivity of the highest order.

“This is insensitivity of the highest order, students are in class learning, look at the noise emanating from the campaign ground, if it must be held here, it should have been done on Saturday when students will be at home or better still ask the students to close earlier than expected”, a concerned passerby said.
