Wives of Missing Police Officers to Earn Full Salaries for One Year

January 7, 2015 – The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Suleiman Abba has vowed to pay salaries of missing police officers for one year to their wives.

The IGP made the vow when he visited wives of officers declared missing following the attack by Boko Haram insurgents at the Police Mobile Training College, Gwoza on the 20th August, 2014.

He gave each of the six (6) families Five hundred thousand Naira (N500,000) and food items with a promise that salaries of the missing policemen will be paid for one year with effect from August 2014 when the sad incident occurred.

He has assured Nigerians that the Force will stand by its personnel at all times, while further pledging the determination of the Force to perform its statutory duties against all odds.

Abba, who was represented by the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Police Mobile Force (PMF) CP Ibrahim Idris, said the Force is saddened that its men are missing but however assured that the Nigeria Police Force would continue to perform its statutory duties of safeguarding lives and property in spite of all odds.

Olutoyin Enisenyin, who is the Squadron Commander of the 50 PMF Kubwa, thanked IGP Abba for the kind gesture while pledging the unflinching loyalty of his men to the Force. Also, one Mrs Esther Ishaya, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked the IGP for his show of love and concern and promised that the money would be judiciously used.
