January 17, 2015 – Not less than 11 people were killed Friday evening when a female suicide bomber detonated an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at a mini market near Gombe State University.
Total number of casualty is not clear, with some sources claiming that between 11 and 15 people were killed in the incident which occurred at around 7:35 PM.
“It was a suicide bombing,” Head of National Emergency Management Agency, Mr. Ahmed Minin, said adding that six people were killed including the bomber while 11 others were injured.
“We evacuated them to the hospital,” he said.
In another development, a suspected bomber on Friday abandoned a bomb-laden pick-up vehicle at a police check point on the Gombe-Biu road.
We gathered that he suspect fled when his device refused to detonate near the checkpoint.
