January 20, 2015 – Chairman Buhari- Osinbajo Fund Raising Committee, Mr. Babatunde Fashola today alleged that the Federal Government has shut down the website of his party, the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Fashola who is also governor of Lagos State made the allegation at a press conference in Lagos.
He did not give details of the agency that is responsible for shutting down the website but said that the gesture is reflective of government’s lack of tolerance for the opposition.

Speaking on the committee, Fashola said in setting up the committee, Buhari insisted that he hoped to have a campaign that would involve ordinary people adding that the committee hopes to work with that.

“What we hope to do is to give the country to the ordinary people”, he said, adding that people have often complained about use of state funds to fund campaign, and that if his committee succeeds, the ordinary people will have found a voice in the event that affects their lives and thus be part of the change that the APC represents.

He said the fund raising is being organised in such a way to give every Nigerian the opportunity to participate and effect change.

He said the money that will be raised will be spent on vehicles, transport cost, printing materials, campaign and advertisement and that it will not be used to build party secretariat.
The governor said the committee is making five payment platforms available to those interested in contributing through five selected banks.

He said interested Nigerians can make donation through dedicated tellers in the five selected banks, by downloading APC ring tones and through scratch cards, SMS and e-payment.

The banks involved in the deal are Zenith Bank, Access Bank, GTBank, Ekobank and Firstbank.
Interested donors are to SMS APC to 35350 to make a donation of N100 to the campaign.

Fashola said the banks are non-partisan. He said the APC now has another website, www.apcgmbpyo.org and that logging in will enable any person interested to make online donation.
