Search and rescue operation in South China Sea

January 2, 2015 – Not less than 30 bodies have so far been recovered from the scene of crashed Air Asia where divers are looking for bodies in Flight QZ8501. All dead bodies recovered were strapped to their seat, Indonesian official said.

There were 162 passengers on board the ill-fated plane which took off from Surabaya, Indonesia to Singapore.Bad weather however hindered search operation for the Airbus A320-200 on Friday.

“Waves were between 3 and 4 meters today, making it difficult to load bodies onto ships and between ships. Tonight we are sending tug boats which should make the transfers easier”, head of Indonesia search and Rescue agency, Mr. Fransiskus Bambang Soelistyo, sais in Jakarta, adding that some vessels would search through the night.
