December 17, 2014 – At last, the All Progressive Congress(APC) has settled down for the former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Professor Yemi Osibajo as running mate and Vice Presidential candidate of the APC Presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari.
His emergence as running mate however came up in the last minutes based on information provided by Senator Babafemi Ojudu, who is a member of the APC caucus that met in Aabuja.
According to him, Prof Yemi Osibajo, the legal expert and Redeem pastor was chosen this morning to run for the Presidency with General Buhari and met with Buhari for the first time at about 1.00 am.
“Osibajo without announcing to anyone slipped into Abuja last night to prepare for a case at the Supreme Court today. When at 12 midnight it was finally decided he will be running, Rauf Aregbesola decided to put a call to him to get ready to leave Lagos that night on a chartered flight to Abuja.
“When the call got through to him, he said he was already in his hotel room in Abuja to the surprise and joy of everyone. A delegation went down to the hotel and took him to the General and he appended his signature to the nomination form.
“At 4.00 pm today. Gen. Buhari will unveil Osibajo at the party secretariat in Abuja. This afternoon he visited Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to express his appreciation to him and through him to the leadership of the party. After that he settled down to draft his acceptance speech”, he said.
