Ambode Wins APC Ticket for 2015 General Elections in Lagos

December 5, 2014 – Former Accountant General of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwumi Ambode early this morning emerged the flag bearer of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the 2015 general election.

He was the overwhelming choice of the party, defeating all other candidates to emerge as candidate of the party. Ambode polled a total of 3,735 votes out of 6,000 votes.

But it was a primaries that had the trappings of a well-orchestrated plot even as the primaries were adjudge to be free and fair.

Earlier some leading candidates like Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Adeyemi Ikuforiji, Commissioner for Works, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, former Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of Lagos State, Mr. Olasupo Shasore walked out of the primaries to protest what they described as unsatisfactory primaries.

While some expressed intention to seek redress in the court of law. Speaking at the venue of the primaries, leader of the party, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu appealed to the aspirants to accept the results of the primaries.

So far here are results of some of the primaries held by APC across the country. Akinwunmi Ambode won in Lagos, Ibikunle Amosun won in Ogun State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi won in Oyo State while Otega Omerhor won in Delta State.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Tambuwal won in Sokoto State, Tanko Al-Makura won in Nasarawa State, while Mallam Nasir El-Rufai won in Kaduna State. Governor Abdulfattah Ahmed won in Kwara State, Senator Aisha Jummai Al-Hassan was the party’s choice in Tarab, Ibrahim Gaidam won In Yobe State while Dagogo Peterside won in Rivers State.
