Several Killed As Suicide Bomber Hits ATM Queue In Bauchi

November 7, 2014 – An improvised explosive device today denoted outside First Bank branch in Bauchi, killing several people who are queue to withdraw money from an Automatic Teller Machine(ATM).

The suicide bomber, according to eye witness concealed the item in a black polythene bag mingled with many waiting in turns by the ATM after parking his motorbike before detonating the explosive.

We gathered that the incident occurred not far from bus station which was recently attacked by the radical Islamic sect Boko Haram killing scores of people.

The incident according to took place at around 10:30 AM. “A man came on foot to this ATM where a large crowd was taking turns to withdraw money,” Lamara Ibrahim told AFP adding that man tried to leave a black plastic bag on a parked motorcycle nearby but was stopped before he could leave by locals who said leaving parcels unaccompanied was prohibited following recent unrest in the area.

“It was while they were talking to him that the bomb exploded. I saw at least 10 people that looked dead,” said Ibrahim, noting that he was not in a position to authoritatively confirm a death toll.
