November 3, 2014 – Scores of Muslim worshipers died on Monday morning when a suicide bomber suspected to be a member of the radical Islamic sect detonated a bomb in Potiskum, Yobe State.
The suicide bomber targeted members of the Shiite Islamic Brotherhood of Nigeria, who were on procession at Faydia Islamic School located near the old market in Potiskum, Yobe State.
The Muslims according to reports were celebrating Ashura Day, which is the new month in the Islamic Calendar, when the suicide bomber penetrated the procession and detonated the improvised explosive devices(IEDs) which killed the bomber and at least 20 others.
Speaking on the development, Commissioner of Police Yobe State, Mr. Markus Danladi said the area has been condoned off adding that the number of casualty is still being determined.
