November 2014 Environmental Sanitation Holds Saturday In Lagos

November 27, 2014 – The statewide monthly environmental sanitation exercise for November comes up in Lagos on Saturday 29th November, 2014 between the hours of 7:00am-10am.

In a statement in Lagos, Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Tunji Bello urged residents of the state to participate actively in the exercise by cleaning of their homes, drains, and totality of their environment.

He noted that regular cleaning of environment holds the key to a healthy living and prosperous life.

He said government has kept faith with its all-rear-round de-flooding programme and that it has intensified massive cleaning and maintenance of channels across the state, in order to reduce to the barest minimum incidence of flooding.

Bello emphasized that, the State Government remains unwavering in its commitment to a clean, hygienic and flood-free environment and therefore urged Lagosians to desist from indiscriminate dumping of refuse into drains and unapproved sites.

The Commissioner warned residents who still patronize cart pushers to desist adding that the scope of the PSP Operators had been increased to further accommodate more residents of the State.
Bello warned private and commercial vehicle operators, interstate bus operators, those operating within the state and their associations to comply with the restriction on vehicular movement between 7.00am-10.00am adding that any vehicle caught violating this order would be dealt with appropriately.

He also warned those who have formed the habit of playing football on the highways during sanitation exercise to henceforth desist from this unlawful act as law enforcement agents have been instructed to apply the full weight of the laws on offenders.
