November 26, 2014 – Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Abdul Jelili Adesiyan, has described the widow of the late sage, Chief (Mrs) Hannah Dideolu Awolowo, as a rare legend created by God for the unity the Yoruba race in particular and Nigeria in general.

HID Awolowo clocked 99 yesterday in a ceremony attended by Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun and his Delta State counterpart, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan and other eminent personalities.

Adesiyan, who joined other Nigerians to felicitate with Mama HID on the occasion of her 99 birthday, said that Mama’s character, humility and love for everyone has indeed confirmed her as a symbol of unity and love for the nation.

In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Wale Akinola, Adesiyan prayed God Almighty to grant Chief (Mrs) Awolowo many more years of worthy service as the matriarch and moral compass of the great Awolowo political dynasty, which according to him, has continued to play a commendable role in national development and progress.

The statement read, “Mama’s 99 years on earth have been successful and beneficial to the Yoruba nation, Nigeria and humanity in general. We shall celebrate with you during your centennial anniversary on November 25, 2015 in good health by the special grace of Almighty Allaah”.

“We congratulate Mama, our leader’s jewel of inestimable value, as she continues to be a beacon of inestimable inspiration to those of us who have remained steadfast in carrying on the torch of the true Awoist progressive ideology.”
