November 29, 2014 – Hundreds of members of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos state today decamped to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) promising victory for the party ahead of 2015.
Former Chairman of the PDP, Dr. Abayomi Finni and former Deputy Governor, Alhaji Rafiu Jafojo led the decampees to the fold of the ruling party in Lagos.
While addressing the gathering Dr. Abayomi Finnin said their decision to abandon the PDP was because of the progressives’ tendencies and quality leadership exemplified by people at the helm of affairs of APC.
He said they are coming to the ruling APC to lend a supportive hands to the present and incoming administration towards improved service delivery to the people of the state.
Finnin vowed never to return to his former party, the PDP he said lacked basic ideas of governance and democratic practice.
Welcoming the decampees, Fashola promised to receive them with open hands.
The governor noted that the PDP had had enough time to address peculiar needs of the people but failed to do so. He called on the people to effect the desired change in the polity through their votes.
