October 31, 2014 – Speaker House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Tambuwal is making frantic effort to save his face after defecting to the All Progressive Congress (APC).

The Speaker, whose security details has been withdrawn today approached a Federal High Court in Abuja to file a suit against the Federal Government , seeking an order declaring the withdrawal of his security details while he is still Speaker of the House unconstitutional and violation of his rights.

He also asked the court to restrain FG from further infringing on his rights and privileges.

Tanbuwal is also asking the court to restrain FG, INEC, PDP and IGP from declaring his seat vacant in line with the section 60(g) of the 1999 Constitution, which states that a member of the House of Representatives shall vacate his seat in the House of which he is a member if “being a person whose election to the House was sponsored by a political party, he becomes a member of another political party before the expiration of the period for which that House was elected”.
