October 27, 2014 – A 48 year old Onitsha based car dealer by name Mathew Atueyi is on the brink of spending the rest of his life in jail in the UK for drug related offence. Atueyi was today arraigned before a UK court for drug trafficking.
During the hearing, Prosecutor, Dr. David Nicholson told the court that the defendant was arrested August 2, 2014 on his arrival at the Edinburg Airport, UK when security forces found the sum of 2,000 British Pounds Sterling on him.
According to Edinburg Times, a urine test carried out on him tested positive for cocaine, prompting an Xray at St John’s Hospital Livingston which showed he had ingested multiple wraps of cocaine.
“He was subsequently transferred to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, where he excreted 80 packages weighing around 1,192 grams in total” Nicholson told the court. He will be sentenced November, 2014.
