Lagos Budget Execution Hits 86 Percent on Impressive Federal Transfers

October 11, 2014 – Budget of the Lagos State Government recorded an 86 percent aggregate performance in the past three quarters, while that of the third quarter stood at 84 percent, Lagos State Governor Mr. Babatunde Fashola has said.

At least N489.69 billion was budgeted by the Lagos State Government for the year 2014.

The governor who made the revelation while addressing journalists said that for the first time, transfer in monthly allocation from the Federal Government attained 84 percent.

He explained that more capital projects were handled during the third quarter, compared with those undertaken in the same period last year. He however noted that there was room for further improvement.

Fashola said more than eleven thousand unemployed youths who were trained in soap making during the quarter, supplied all the commodity distributed to public schools as part of the Ebola prevention initiative.

Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Mr. Ben Akabueze said construction, particularly roads would be the preoccupation of government in the dry season, which is the last quarter of the year.
